One of the simplest things I do as a children's entertainer is also the most powerful. I crouch down. I kneel. I sit on the floor. I bring myself physically to the child's height. And every single time, I watch the entire dynamic shift.

It sounds almost too simple to matter. But after nearly thirty years of working with children, as Trixie the Clown at Silly of the Valley Productions, as a Clown Doctor in Ontario hospitals, and as a workshop leader in schools and community centres across the Okanagan. I can tell you that this one physical act communicates more than a thousand words ever could. When you get down to a child's level, you are telling them, without saying anything at all, that they are worth your attention. That they are not an interruption. That they matter.
